I would like to thank all of you who attended our 2nd Family Day Barbeque. We had an outrageously beautiful day for it. Once again Bassett's Catering served up a barbeque feast of hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, eggplant parmagian, macaroni & cheese, a full salad bar and all the fruit punch and ice tea you could drink. Juggler Jay Green provided the the entertainment early on for the kids. The music was rockin' with everything from 70's Disco to Sinatra. A few of us showed our age as we grabbed the microphone and joined in on some of those "Oldies But Goodies".

 

            The Butera family won a pair of Grace/Gravesend Seat Cushions for winning the Parent/Child 3 Legged Race. And an "undetermined amount of parents" won tee shirts for participating in our Marshmallow Race. All the kids got key rings for the attempt of a water balloon catch which ended up as a "free for all".  The Top prize was a pair of Box Seats to the Brooklyn Cyclones vs. the Staten Island Yankees game on Friday, August 1st.which went to 8 year old Angelo Cona for winning "Musical Chairs". Young Louis Cornacchia was the runner-up and also received a pair of Cyclone tickets. And Chuck Arcuri won $101 as he held the winning ticket in our 50/50 raffle.

 

            I would like to extend special thanks to Billy Tropea who not only supplied the amplifier system but had his firehouse send over a fire truck with some of New York' Bravest which totally impressed the kids as well as the rest of us.  Thank you!

            This was the second Family Day Barbeque I planned, but plans don't always work out unless you have the right people to carry them out. I have the right people. Robert DeCapua and Lou Cornacchia. If you don't know them, you're missing out.
